We are seeking a Supervisory Principal to work with our Head of Business Supervision to implement and perform a newly established Business Supervision function. The Supervisory Principal will be responsible for completing front-line supervisory tasks on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and referring escalations, exceptions and other matters to the company’s Head of Business Supervision or Compliance Department, as appropriate.

Role Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include both brokerage and advisory activities, not limited to:

  • Review of securities transactions and investment activities including but not limited to equities, fixed income, pooled investment vehicles and private equity.
  • Review of account-level standard of care for brokerage and advisory accounts.
  • Review and approval of account documentation, client communications, and registered representative correspondence.
  • Review of various non-trade related transactions - escalate emerging risks as necessary.
  • Review of personnel disclosures and reporting (outside business activities, personal trading, gift reporting, complaint review, etc.)
  • Interact with personnel in all areas of the organization to satisfy day-to-day assignments as well as ad-hoc projects.
  • Coach advisors to help them deliver advice and services in the best interest of their clients.
  • Other supervisory duties as required.


  • Knowledge of general securities, options, mutual funds, alternative investments, and other financial products required
  • Deep knowledge of FINRA and SEC rules and regulations (including Reg BI)
  • 8-10 years industry experience in a supervision or related function
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline a plus
  • Experience developing or implementing systems and strategies for effective business supervision, ideally at a broker-dealer and investment advisor with retail clients
  • High EQ and an ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the company
  • Inquisitive nature with a strong instinct for risk management
  • Series 7, 63/65 (or 66), and 24 required
  • Excellent facility with technology (including advanced Microsoft Excel skills) and a willingness to learn and adopt new and evolving technology solutions
