Invested In Our Communities
Philanthropy and community service have been important to who we are as a firm from the beginning. We believe we have a responsibility to help strengthen the communities where we live and work through our influence, expertise, skills, and resources.
Through charitable giving, as well as hosting initiatives that ask every employee to volunteer their time and talents with impactful, non-profit organizations, we strive to work together to help make a difference.
We are privileged to support many non-profit organizations and charitable endeavors, including:
Allan Glick Annual Leadership Award
In January 2019, we mourned the passing of Allan Glick, a key member of the First Manhattan team for more than 50 years. In addition to his commitment to the firm, Allan was also dedicated to the community, particularly UJA-Federation of New York, where he was a long-time leader.
In recognition of Allan's deep commitment to First Manhattan and to philanthropy, in December 2019, we created a $1 million endowment fund to establish the annual Allan Glick Leadership Award.
Thriving communities and organizations rely upon the courageous leadership of people like Allan. The award, which will be presented each year at a UJA board meeting, will recognize outstanding volunteers and professionals who are working to strengthen UJA's network of agencies, as Allan did.
Food Bank for New York City
We proudly support Food Bank for New York City's mission to end hunger by organizing food, information, and support across the city's five boroughs for over 35 years. Our employees volunteer their time to support the organization's fight to end hunger.
In addition, First Manhattan's Arthur Stainman and George Garfunkel serve on the Food Bank for New York City's Board of Directors.
New York Cares Coat Drive
New York Cares Coat Drive is a city-wide effort to collect over 100,000 coats each year and distribute them to New Yorkers who need them most in the colder months. First Manhattan is honored to participate in the Coat Drive, which has been running for 30 years. In 2020, New York Cares delivered its 2 millionth coat.
Our firm culture is defined by four core values—integrity, growth, expertise, and teamwork.Learn more
