Portfolio construction and management

Andrew's approach to portfolio management attempts to mitigate the impact of wide swings in the market, with the goal of growing his clients' capital without taking undue risks. He seeks to:

  • Prioritize “franchises,” businesses that operate in industries with high barriers to entry, retain leading market positions, generate strong and sustainable cash flows, and have management teams that deploy those cash flows in shareholder-friendly ways.
  • Place tremendous importance on the quality of a company’s executive team, making it a point to meet a company’s leadership before investing.
  • Meet with managers of existing holdings on a regular basis to ensure that those companies are continuing to perform well.

My promise is that I will always be able to articulate why I bought a stock and why I continue to own it.
