At First Manhattan, we believe that diversity is our strength, and we are committed to promoting the values of inclusion and equity. Some of the ways we ensure that DEI plays an integral role in our business strategy include:
An employee-led DEI Committee
- Comprised of a diverse, cross-functional group of employees who help to develop and promote inclusive and equitable strategies and best practices
- First Manhattan’s DEI Committee members are: Andrew Aspen, Chief Legal Officer; Carol DePena, Operations Associate; Dan Helmick, Portfolio Manager; Kenya Henderson, Chief Marketing Officer; Wendy Mullen, Chief Human Resources Officer; Himayani Puri, Director of Research; Vincent Quan, Software Developer; and Zac Wydra, Chief Executive Officer
Diversity and inclusion in recruitment
- In 2022, 55% of all new full-time hires at First Manhattan were women and 36% were people of color
- Through our partnership with Seizing Every Opportunity (SEO), an organization that recruits and trains high-achieving Black, Latinx, and Native American college students for challenging summer internships, we are hiring diverse interns and placing them in teams such as Portfolio Management and Research
Firmwide DEI training
- We require all firm personnel to participate in DEI training through our partnership with EverFi, a digital learning platform that specializes in DEI education
